Jonathan Kohlmeier
Jonathan Kohlmeier is a selective mutism advocate from upstate New York with a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. He also holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Babson College, where he concentrated in Finance and Technology.
Diagnosed with selective mutism at age five, Jonathan is deeply committed to supporting others navigating similar challenges. He has volunteered at both virtual and in-person intensive SM treatment programs and frequently speaks to students, educators, and parent groups about selective mutism and his memoir, Learning to Play the Game: My Journey Through Silence.
His story has been featured on PBS Keeping Kids Healthy and BBC Our World. Since 2020, Jonathan has served on the board of directors for the Selective Mutism Association, where he works to raise awareness and expand access to effective support.
