Christie YoungSmith

Christie YoungSmith is a K-12 educator, researcher, and advocate passionate about elevating marginalized voices in educational spaces. She has worked on school-based interventions for a student experiencing SM, and has volunteered as Counselor for Freedom Camp founded by Dr. Catherine Eckel. At a young age, Christie also experienced undiagnosed SM (as the diagnosis was uncommon at the time) and has made finding her voice and elevating others’ voices a large part of her life’s journey. Currently Christie is the Director of Programs for Asia Society Northern California, as well as consultant for the Stanford Center for the Support of Excellence in Teaching (CSET), designing educational programs that lift up AAPI and K-12 student voices. She received her M.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Education, her B.A. from Johns Hopkins University, and is pursuing her Ed.D. with American University.
