SUMMARY:August Five-Day Brave Buddies Program for Ages 3 to 12 in New York City\, NY
DESCRIPTION:Kathryn Keough\, PhD; Director of the Selective Mutism ServiceKathryn.Keough@childmind.org \n\n\n\nhttps://childmind.org/care/programs/brave-buddies/ \n\n\n\nThe five day August Brave Buddies program offers an immersive experience to help children (3-12 years-old) practice brave talking across a full week of activities. \n\n\n\nOur classroom-like setting allows children to practice speaking in a familiar environment and build momentum speaking in a school building ahead of the new school year. \n\n\n\nWe also provide opportunities out of the classroom\, encouraging the children to continue speaking in the community when the program is over. \n\n\n\nParent training sessions happen daily so that parents leave feeling empowered to keep the progress going.

SUMMARY:Voices Rising for Ages 4 to 12 in Bronxville\, NY
DESCRIPTION:Dr Rachel Busman sm@cbc-psychology.com \n\n\n\nVoices Rising is an intensive group treatment for children aged 4-12 with Selective Mutism (SM). Using a classroom-like structure\, the group provides many opportunities to speak and engage with other peers and adults. \n\n\n\nSpeaking goals are individualized to fit the needs of the child\, focusing on asking and answering questions\, initiating conversations\, speaking and presenting to larger groups\, and engaging in peer-to-peer interactions. Each day consists of developmentally appropriate and engaging activities designed to facilitate “brave talking.” Groups are divided by age and will engage in different activities that are geared specifically for that age group. Other highlights of the program include classroom visitors\, which add opportunities to practice speaking goals with new people and going out in the community. Parent training sessions are an integral part of the overall treatment. There are 5 separate parent training sessions (virtual).

SUMMARY:Weekly Virtual SM / Social Anxiety Group for Ages 9 to 12 in NY\, NJ\, and CT
DESCRIPTION:Anxiety can keep kids stuck — quiet in class\, hesitant in groups\, or quick to withdraw from situations that feel uncertain. This once-weekly\, 90-minute virtual group helps pre-teens (ages 9 to 12) break that cycle. \n\n\n\nThrough engaging\, age-appropriate activities that mirror real-world challenges — like participating in classroom discussions\, joining group conversations\, and collaborating on shared tasks — kids learn to manage anxious thoughts\, challenge self-doubt\, and lean into social experiences. Each session offers practical tools\, peer connection\, and hands-on coaching in a safe and supportive space. As they take small\, intentional steps forward\, pre-teens build the confidence to speak up\, join in\, and engage more freely in everyday life\, without letting anxiety call the shots. \n\n\n\nVisit squareonenyc.com to learn more! \n\n\n\nFee: $200 per session
