Bria Rakison, M.A., LPC, LBS
Echo Counseling Services, LLC
Bria is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with extensive experience assessing and treating Selective Mutism (SM) and other mental health concerns since 2009. She is trained and certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for Selective Mutism (PCIT-SM) through Kurtz Psychology Consulting, PC, an evidence-based approach specifically designed to help individuals with Selective Mutism build confidence and increase verbal communication.
Bria provides individualized treatment both in person at her Pittsburgh-area practice and through telehealth, tailoring treatment to the unique needs of each child and family.
Using the PCIT-SM approach, Bria works closely with children and their parents or caregivers to reduce anxiety surrounding speaking and create meaningful, lasting progress in verbal communication. Because Selective Mutism often affects children across multiple settings, Bria takes a flexible, child-centered approach to treatment, providing support where it is needed most.
Services may include treatment in the office or through telehealth, as well as specialized support in the home, school, and community. School-based services may include individualized school interventions, teacher and staff training, school consultations, and targeted exposure-based interventions to help children generalize their communication skills across settings.
Bria's goal is to help children move from feeling anxious about speaking to feeling confident using their voice—at school, at home, and in the community.
