Voices Rising

“Voices Rising is an intensive group treatment for children aged 4-10 with Selective Mutism (SM). Using a classroom-like structure, the group provides many opportunities to speak and engage with other peers and adults. Speaking goals are individualized to fit the needs of the child, focusing on asking and answering questions, initiating conversations, speaking and presenting to larger groups and engaging in peer-to-peer interactions. Groups are divided by age and will engage in different activities that are geared specifically for that age group. The program will also include classroom visitors, which add opportunities to practice speaking goals with new people. Exposures in the community are also part of the program. Our counselors are highly trained in adapted PCIT- SM, an evidence-based treatment. Parent training, an integral part of the program, will be virtual and take place before, during and after the program itself.
