Voices Rising is an intensive group treatment for children aged 4-12 with Selective Mutism (SM). Using a classroom-like structure, the group provides many opportunities to speak and engage with other peers and adults.
Speaking goals are individualized to fit the needs of the child, focusing on asking and answering questions, initiating conversations, speaking and presenting to larger groups, and engaging in peer-to-peer interactions. Each day consists of developmentally appropriate and engaging activities designed to facilitate “brave talking.” Groups are divided by age and will engage in different activities that are geared specifically for that age group. Other highlights of the program include classroom visitors, which add opportunities to practice speaking goals with new people and going out in the community.
