If your child has selective mutism or social anxiety, I get how hard this can feel. Watching your child struggle to connect with others or feeling like they’re being left out—birthday parties, group activities, even simple conversations—can weigh heavily. It’s heartbreaking to think they might be labeled as rude or uninterested when, deep down, they just can’t get the words out. You’ve probably hoped this phase would pass, but instead, it feels like it’s only getting harder.
For the past 10 years, I’ve been working with kids and parents who feel stuck in this exact spot. I use evidence-based treatments, like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to help children find their voice and build confidence, step by step. But it’s not just about the kids—I also work closely with parents to provide real, actionable strategies you can use to support your child’s communication and self-esteem at home. On top of that, I collaborate with teachers and school staff to make sure your child feels supported in the classroom and part of the school community.
You don’t have to navigate this alone. With the right support, your child can start to feel more comfortable, connect with others, and finally let their voice be heard
