With degrees in Speech and Theater from Brooklyn College (CUNY) as well as a Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University, Evelyn has been a Speech Therapist and Speech and Voice Trainer for over 20 years. She is licensed in the state of Florida and certified by ASHA.
In addition to her private practice, Evelyn’s work experience includes over 10 years as a Speech Language Pathologist in Broward County Schools, Public Speaking and Effective Communications Instructor at Broward College, and is currently the Speech Language Pathologist for Don Soffer Aventura High School.
Evelyn has been helping children, teens, and adults with Selective Mutism and Speaking Anxiety for over 10 years. In addition to traditional clinical methods, her holistic approach to therapy includes creative arts and drama therapy techniques such as role playing, scripts, character portrayal, poetry, and singing as well as breath support and relaxation exercises to reduce anxiety and help elicit speech with joy and confidence.
For School-aged children, Evelyn connects and consults with school personnel to provide education about Selective Mutism and the needs of the specific child she is treating and works closely with the family to provide support.
For adults and teens with Selective Mutism and Speaking Anxiety, Evelyn provides speech coaching for college and job interviews, workplace, and social situations.
Evelyn is also an SMA State Coordinator in Florida and strongly believes in the importance of promoting awareness and support for children, teens, and adults with Selective Mutism and their families.
