Denise Kinser received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Biology at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA.Shortly thereafter she enrolled in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Masters of Social Work program and achieved licensure to practice therapy in 2004. She has worked in a variety of settings as a mental health therapist- such as community mental health centers, schools and hospitals. Denise currently has a private practice in Charlotte, North Carolina and focuses her practice primarily on anxiety disorders in children and adults.
Denise is the mother of a child who has overcome SM. Although a licensed therapist herself, she was initially perplexed by this little known condition and the lack of awareness of pediatricians, speech therapists and mental health therapists. Denise advocated extensively for her child and because no one in their metropolitan area could help guide proper treatment, they traveled to Florida and received intensive treatment at Florida International University (a behavioral/exposure based program).Denise has witnessed many children overcome SM with proper treatment and it is her passion to educate, empower and assist other families with this condition.
