DESCRIPTION:And continues on Saturday and Sunday\, August 16 and 17 \n\n\n\nDr Melissa Giglio (drgiglio@centralhealth.com.hk) and Farhana Greene (farhana@centralhealth.com.hk) \n\n\n\nThe Confident Crew summer intensive program targets building brave muscles and increasing verbal communication. Our program was first established in 2016 and is offered twice a year to support children in Asia and from overseas. This year\, the intensive is scheduled over two weekends to support the transition back to school and build in daily practice during the week in between sessions. The ratio of counselors to kids is 1:1 to provide individual attention for each child. Multiple exposures are scheduled daily to support continuous practice and increased difficulty. Lead-in sessions are required before the start of Confident Crew to ensure that each child is prepared to participate and to maximize therapeutic gains.

The program now continues under the leadership of Dr. Zohra Chahal and her team at Square One Psychology\, with Dr. Kurtz remaining closely involved to ensure that the MMK legacy continues seamlessly in its new home. \n\n\n\nEach camp session offers structured\, immersive treatment that helps children make meaningful progress in a short span of time. The intensive model allows campers to build and sustain brave momentum in a way that’s difficult to achieve through traditional\, once-weekly therapy alone. This session will specifically focus on both developing and implementing exposure practices in school environments. The session will provide participants with a) tools for gathering data about a child’s current speaking comforts in the school environment\, b) planning forms to help school teams develop concrete intervention plans\, c) examples of creative school-based exposure practices at 3 levels of communication (i.e.\, nonverbal\, communicating with a few individuals in the building\, higher level speaking)\, d) ideas for efficient progress monitoring\, and e) problem-solving through common barriers within exposure practice.
