SUMMARY:Outside Voice Camp for Ages 3 to 12 in Ogden\, UT
DESCRIPTION:Does your child have difficulty speaking in school? Talking to peers and new adults? Communicating his or her needs? Outside Voice Camp can help! Outside Voice takes place in a rented private school\, allowing your child to grow confident speaking in a real-life school environment. Our expert counselors will help your child conquer their anxiety around speaking and will help them start to use their “Outside Voice.” Our counselors include local resident family medicine physicians\, allowing your child to grow in the brave talking voice\, while also training local resident physicians in how to help children with Selective Mutism. Campers ages 12 and older will have the opportunity to participate as Junior Camp Counselors. The program now continues under the leadership of Dr. Zohra Chahal and her team at Square One Psychology\, with Dr. Kurtz remaining closely involved to ensure that the MMK legacy continues seamlessly in its new home. \n\n\n\nEach camp session offers structured\, immersive treatment that helps children make meaningful progress in a short span of time. The intensive model allows campers to build and sustain brave momentum in a way that’s difficult to achieve through traditional\, once-weekly therapy alone. For families seeking expert care\, MMK also delivers exceptional value — offering the equivalent of nearly six months of therapy in just one week\, at a fraction of the cumulative cost. \n\n\n\nEach camp session includes:27.5 hours of group-based behavioral treatmentDaily Report Cards (DRCs) and brief check-ins at pick-up with Dr. ChahalA 2-hour virtual parent training following campA 30-minute individualized feedback call following camp \n\n\n\nTo ensure each camper receives truly individualized support\, every child is paired 1:1 with a trained counselor\, and each camp week is capped at just 8 children. Dr. Chahal works closely with parents in advance to identify each child’s unique “brave talking” goals\, then ensures that each camp day includes targeted\, meaningful exposure opportunities tailored to their specific needs. \n\n\n\nCampers practice speaking across a range of carefully chosen classroom and community settings — from sharing during Show & Tell and playing cooperatively with peers\, to answering a teacher’s question or ordering from a server at a local ice cream shop.
