The Cool, Confident and Courageous Kids Camp (CCC Camp) is a five-day camp experience designed to provide intensive behavioral treatment for children between the ages of four and thirteen who are diagnosed with selective mutism (SM) and/or severe social anxiety. The CCC Camp offers youth the opportunity for a more successful transition to the new school year. We provide a structured experience in which children participate in a variety of engaging activities including outdoor games, arts and crafts, music, and a petting zoo. We also simulate typical classroom activities such as circle time, morning meeting, center work, and class discussions. These activities provide youth with hands on practice in verbal participation in a safe, school-like environment. Each child receives individualized support, positive feedback and rewards to increase their brave behavior in anxious situations. Our 5th annual CCC Camp will run from August 10 to 14, 2020. The directors of the CCC Camp, Dr. Kelly O’Brien at Alvord, Baker & Associates, LLC and Dr. Veronica Raggi at Brighter Outlook Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, LLC, offer more than two decades of combined experience treating children with SM. Children who are interested in registering must first meet with Dr. O’Brien or Dr. Raggi to ensure they are a good fit for our program. If interested, please contact Dr. O’Brien at 301-593-6554, x41 or Dr. Raggi at 301-200-2154 or visit the Alvord Baker website for more information.
