Dr. Annie Simpson is a registered psychologist who specializes in the assessment and treatment of emotional, behavioural, and learning concerns in children and adolescents from birth through age 16. The main focus of her clinical practice is anxiety disorders, particularly those affecting young children. Dr. Annie uses evidenced based (scientifically supported) techniques when addressing these concerns including cognitive behavioural therapy and behavioural interventions. By working with both children and their parents, she aims to provide families with skills that will help create long lasting changes and will be transferable to other concerns in the future. These techniques are all done in a fun, engaging, and playful way that kids enjoy.
Dr. Annie received a combined PhD in School and Clinical Child psychology at the University of Toronto. She works as a registered psychologist both in private practice as well as in the Pediatric OCD Program at BC Children’s Hospital. She was previously the psychologist on the Infant Psychiatry team at BC Children’s Hospital. She is a Clinical Associate in the Department of Psychology at Simon Fraser University. Dr. Simpson also works as a consultant for AnxietyBC (www.anxietybc.com) providing lectures and workshops, and developing self-help materials for children and adolescents. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the Selective Mutism Association – Childhood, Anxiety Network, the International OCD Foundation, and the BC Psychological Association.
