SM Connections is a program consisting of a nationwide and international support/information system that focuses on disseminating accurate, relevant information to individuals in a position to recognize the signs of SM in our children. The SM Connections program also links you up with local sources of support.

Find a Treating Professional
Looking for a treating professional in your area? SMG can help you make that connection. We provide helpful tips and thoughts to consider when choosing a treating professional. Additionally, as more and more treating professionals join SMG, their contact information will be captured into a searchable database.
Find a Local Support Group
Local support groups are forming regularly. Check a listing of ongoing support groups in your local area via the SMG website and/or check to learn about individuals that would like to start a group in your area.
Online SMG Library
No matter how versed you are with selective mutism, the SMG online library serves as a central portal of information that is intended to educate you about selective mutism as well as assist you in making informed decisions about strategically managing selective mutism and finding the appropriate level of help. The SMG online library strives to promote a wide spectrum of philosophies and treatment approaches, and plans to continually update the library with further information as it becomes available. Members will receive automatic communications when new articles and online library submissions are posted.
Children's Playground
This feature is currently under construction. Check back soon for activities and educational opportunities that reinforce positive messages and build self-esteem either directly (or indirectly) through enjoyable online activities geared toward children of all ages.
Online Forums
As a member, you are entitled to utilize the secure SMG online forum to
communicate with others around the world about experiences, treatment
approaches, and progress with loved ones that are faced with selective
mutism. The online forum is a great way to connect with and learn from
other parents and treating professionals.
Calendar of Events
The online calendar of events is a fast, easy way check upcoming events, speaking engagements, online chat sessions, conferences and other educational opportunities are offered around the country. The calendar will continually be updated.

Bookstore Discounts
SMG members are entitled to significant discounts on product purchases from the online bookstore. Upon log in to the SMG web site, members are recognized and will automatically receive discounts at time of purchase. Discount percentages are based on membership type.
Personal State Coordinator
SMG members are automatically assigned a personal state coordinator if one is available in their local area. State coordinators are great central points of contact to learn more about SMG, services offered, local events, and to find a local support group. State coordinators do an outstanding job of connecting members to the organization, and ensure members receive timely, useful information as it relates to increasing awareness about selective mutism.
Conference Discounts
SMG members are entitled to significant discounts when registering for SMG conferences and events. As time draws nearer to these events, members will receive targeted communications about discount opportunities available to them.
Personalized Landing Page
Upon log on to the SMG web site, members will receive a landing page where they can view and edit their personal profiles. Profiles include the name of their local state coordinator and pertinent member data, such as contact information, membership type, local treating professionals, and so forth. The landing pages are secure, and a useful way to ensure your information is always up-to-date.
Periodic Newsletter
Several electronic newsletters are sent throughout the year to members with useful, timely information about SMG, selective mutism, new products and services, upcoming events, member success stories, ongoing research, and spotlights on treating professional members.
Parent-to-Parent Networking
The SMG parent-to-parent networking program is offered to all SMG members. The program serves to connect parents from around the country, creating a unique opportunity to share experiences, success stories, what works and what doesn't work when dealing with Selective Mutism in the family.
Expert Chat
These moderated chat sessions offer our members the unique opportunity to talk directly to an expert in Selective Mutism or other related topics.
Inclusion into Calendar of Events
SMG wants to help treating professional members to market and promote their upcoming speaking engagements as a means to increase awareness about selective mutism and spread the word about opportunities to learn from each other. As events are being planned, treating professional members can contact SMG to post relevant event information within the calendar of events on the web site.

When treating professional members have their upcoming speaking engagements and events posted within the SM calendar of events, an online professional profile is made available to SMG web site visitors and members via a link to a personalized online professional profile page. This is a great opportunity to post ongoing research studies you may be conducting and want to market to the community.

As a Treating Professional member, you can choose to have your contact information automatically displayed to member landing pages if your practice is within the member's local area. This is a great win-win situation for you and the member, because your information as a treating professional is readily accessible to all SMG members in your local area without the member having to search for it.
Profile in Searchable Database
Another way that SMG can help market and promote treating professional members from around the world is to ensure your professional profile page is linkable from SMG's Treating Professional Member locator tool. Now members can search for treating members in their area and read more about your practice, specialties, research as well as overall SM philosophy and approach.
Personalized Training/Mentoring
SMG treating professional members are entitled to personalized training and mentoring by a clinical treating professional who specializes in selective mutism and anxiety disorders.
Speaking Opportunities
SMG offers speaking engagement opportunities at conferences, events and the annual retreat.
Quarterly Professional Teleconference
This quarterly teleconference allows the opportunity to discuss current selective mutism topics with other treating professional members. The teleconference is intended to bring the treating professional community together and discuss latest topics and treatment approaches.
