Catherine Eckel, Ph.D.
Dr. Eckel is a licensed psychologist working with children, adolescents, and adults. She received her master’s degree from Boston College and her doctorate from the University of Oregon. She did her clinical training at Boston Medical Center in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and at the Boston VA Hospital. Her training focused on the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and child and adult trauma. In addition, she worked as part of the psychiatric team in a hospital emergency room, assessing children and adolescents in need of urgent psychological care. Dr. Eckel also held a faculty position at Boston University School of Medicine where she directed a program focused on health, education, and wellness for airline employees and firefighters after the events of September 11.
Dr. Eckel currently has a private practice in Los Gatos, California. She treats children and adolescents with selective mutism. Her approach includes consistent collaboration with parents, teachers and schools. In addition to selective mutism, Dr. Eckel also treats obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias, generalized anxiety, mood disorders, social difficulties, as well as other presenting issues.
