Bob Levit, Ph.D.

Bob Levit is a clinical psychologist who has been in private practice in Los Gatos, California for 25 years. Bob treats children and adults in individual and family therapy. One of his areas of interest is anxiety disorders in children, including selective mutism. Bob's approach to treating selective mutism includes careful evaluation of the factors contributing to the condition for the specific child, and assisting the child to recognize, cope with and eventually overcome his or her fears. To accomplish this, Bob incorporates individual cognitive play therapy with the child and consultation and intervention with parents, teachers and other significant individuals. Treatment and interventions are provided in the office and, when indicated, in the situations and environments (such as the classroom) where the child is experiencing the condition.

Bob received his bachelor's degree with departmental honors in Psychology from Northwestern University. He earned his master's degree and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology. Prior to beginning his private practice, Bob completed an internship at Children's Hospital at Stanford and served as a psychological assistant at the Children's Health Council in Palo Alto, Calfornia.
