School's Out, Now What? Brave Buddies and Other Summer Programs

Sleep-away camp? Beach? Travel? Summer is full of options, and sometimes picking an appropriate one for your child with selective mutism (SM) can be a challenge. Dr. Steven Kurtz, director of the Child Mind Institute's Selective Mutism Program, discusses various summer programs for children with SM. You'll learn how-and when-to choose a summer program that meets your child's needs. Dr. Kurtz will also discuss Brave Buddies, our weeklong intensive summer treatment program designed to help children with SM experience less anxiety, increase their "brave talking," and better prepare for the coming school year.
