The Children’s Clinic is sponsoring a series of educational films on selected emotional and behavioral problems that have their typical start in childhood and adolescences. The films are 20-30 minutes in length and provide a basic overview of the particular problem. Following the film there will an opportunity for discussion and questions with by Edward Plimpton, PhD. There is no charge for this program which has been generously supported by the Falcon Fund.
The first film in this series, The Silence Within, will be on Selective Mutism. In this anxiety disorder children are talkative at home but will not speak in school or other public places. It has been estimated to occur in 7 out of every 1,000 children.
